Christian-weight-loss---has-dieting-become-a-hobby-for-you-
Daniel Wychor
You lose weight and gain it back, lose weight and gain it back. A lot of people spend as much time researching and trying new diets as they do with hobbies they really enjoy. In essence, they have turned dieting into a hobby. If you are one of them wouldn't you like to lose the weight once and for all? Wouldn't you like to reach your goal and never have to worry about having to ever again? Is that even possible? YES!
I've known many people who have spent much of their adult lives on one after another. I have seen people lose anywhere from a few pounds to over 100 pounds. They looked great and felt great but it only lasted for a short while. Soon after the ended, they began to gain the weight back. Many gained all the weight back and more. They'd give up for a while, discover a new and the cycle would start all over again. Does this sound like anyone you know?
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Albert Einstein
Old Albert was on to something. It doesn't matter how much weight you lose or how fast. If you do not figure out how to keep it off, you'll end up right where you started, or worse.
There are a lot of good diets that can help you lose weight, but unless you take care of the root cause of your weight problem, you'll continue your hobby. What is the root cause that has turned dieting into an unwanted hobby for most people? Temptation! The temptation to overeat or binge on junk food.
If temptation is your enemy, how do you stop it? To stop it you must first understand it.
Temptation comes from the word tempt. If you look up the word tempt in a dictionary you'll find someone has to tempt you, you cannot tempt yourself. Who could that someone be?
A study was done several years ago that found of all Americans, religious or not, more than 2/3 believe the devil exists. Among those who believed religion to be very important, over 80% believed the devil exists.
According to the Bible, the devil tempted Adam and Eve, later he tempted Jesus. In other words, his specialty is temptation.
I like to ask people, "If you believe the devil exists, what do you think he does all day? Do you think he just sits around twiddling his thumbs, watching TV?"
Let's look at this from a logical standpoint.
If you: a)believe like most Americans that the devil exists b)believe his specialty is temptation c)struggle with weight problems because of temptation
Doesn't it make sense to learn how to resist the devil when he tempts you? Do you think this might finally bring your hobby to an end?
The bottom line is whether you are thinking of starting a dieting, currently dieting, or especially, just reached your goal, you need to get a handle on temptation. That is unless; you don't want to give up your dieting hobby.
